Majestic People in Outstanding Places, 2010
The project entitled “Majestic People in Outstanding Places” has been thought and executed during the artist’s residency at the FAIR programme of Fabrikken for Kunst og Design in Copenhagen, Denmark during the months of May and June 2010.
The project is composed by a series of 11 paintings/portraits of Her Majesty the Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and 3 pieces of sculpture, a bicycle, a bicycle locker and a bottle of beer all covered by the same silk textile.
Sculpture consisting of:
1.“Her Majestic Bicycle”. 2010.
Tailor-made cover/dress on real bicycle. Bicycle, silk textile.
Dimensions variable.
2.“Her Majestic Bicycle Locker. 2010.
A bicycle locker entirely covered with silk textile. 30 x 18,5 x 3 cm.
3.“Her Majestic Bottle of Beer”.
An original Carlsberg beer bottle entirely covered with textile. 23 x 6 x 6 cm.
The queen is placed in the middle of several different Danish surroundings, urban landscapes and social events totally embraced by the Danish population. By using the representative of this Institution the artist’s intention is to bring specific and recognizable symbols closer to our modest human needs through the process of metamorphosis.
